Craft Tag

Got tagged by my sister-in-law Leslie back in February and I am just getting around to finally posting. But her project (a stuffed turtle that you can take out of it's shell) is amazing which makes mine look like a little kid's scribbling in comparison. Lately, I haven't had much time for crafting. These are a few gifts I had to prepare for upcoming occasions. I thought they looked good enought to share!

Some covered notebooks and burpcloths...

Then there were these that I couldn't post until I gave them to the recipient...

Jamie and Kamrah's baby blanket for Lochte...

And my favoirte burpcloth for Lochte...

And my lanyard for my badge for work...

More fun at the Mall

Summer is best enjoyed with some of these...
FRIENDS. Our awesome friends the Drakes!

So not only do we have a great play area in the mall for those "cold" or rainy days here. But we also have a sprinkler park just outside the food court. Just another exciting adventure for our summer days.

Dylan thinks this is pretty funny... This kids is ripped!!! We are still trying to figure out where he gets it.

Ashlyn and Corbin figured out how to cover up the water spouts with their feet...
And you can only imagine that it backfired a few times in Corbin's face!!!

But he still loved it to pieces...

Dylan's new game of trying to not get hit by the shooting water (they stop and restart randomly, so it can be tricky)...

Happy Summer days!

Udon'tHaul

Happy Birthday to us!!!

We have lived in one place a whole year!!!!

And we do not even have a date for this...

NO Moving! It has been a great summer not worrying about all that moving stuff. I am really enjoying getting to keep my friends, my doctor, my license plates and much more!

But we have realized that because of all our moves we have been able to have a "second round" with a few friends.

Our friends the Coxes were in our Holladay ward and were here in Durham for a medical residency (they are our first friends who have moved away FROM us!) We also just got some friends down here from our Cleveland ward who finished Dental school, the Wests.

So you might be next!!!

Well at least not this summer!!!

3-0

The man I love turns 30 today! I think he has some mixed feelings. He had always imagined that 30 would mean he owned a house, had a job that he loved and a nice car to drive to that great job. So he is a little sad that he doesn't have any of these- he does have a job he hates and the same car we had in college.
But...

I don't think he feels that old and we are pretty happy with all that we DON'T have!

Dinosaurs

Thanks to blogging we got to go here...The Life and Science Museum in Durham. We really love this place. There is endless loads of fun. And since I have blogged about it before we got invited for the opening of the brand new Dinosaur Trail...

At first Ashlyn was very concerned that these were real dinosaurs. After I convinced her otherwise she was pretty happy to be there. Ashlyn and Dylan asked if they could sit on every dinosaur, sadly this was the only one they could sit on.
As you can see, Corbin is asking (but not verbally, Argg!) for something to eat above!

Now If Morgan King were here he could name all these dinosaurs. Each plaque had their name (all names were ones I had never heard before and could barley pronounce) as well as a few facts. Now If the kids had gone slow enough for me to read them I might be able to tell you some interesting facts about each dinosaur.
We all really enjoyed it!

Just a few more pictures for our friends, the Coxes, who moved last week and missed the exhibit! They introduced us to this wonderful place!
We also enjoyed some of our favorite parts of the museum. The weather exhibit...
Blowing "clouds into each other's faces...

The endless amount of noise to be heard at the chimes and drums...

The water pumps...
And the place that we could literally spend all day...
The remote controlled sailboats. There is much much more that we love but didn't have time to see!

Independence

We truly are grateful for all the men and women who made it possible for us to enjoy the freedoms we now have- we need to do our part by continue to keep fighting for them.
We enjoyed our 4th! We drove back up to Cleveland to our old stomping grounds. We were able to see our best friends, the Ellsworths, for a minute before they left. We got to see Nate and Cami's (Connor's sister) new house and enjoyed their beachfront "backyard" just a block from their house!
We enjoyed the Kirtland pageant, "This Is Kirtland" - it was nice to be in the crowd this time around. Nate was the director this year and worked hard making a lot of wonderful changes. Cami wrote a new song for their new character- Lorenzo Snow. And it was awesome! If you are nearby, go, go, go!!! (BTW, this is Connor playing Joseph Smith last year)
We enjoyed a 4th of July picnic with our old ward in Kirtland. Ashlyn especially loved the river...
Dylan loved the ultimate Frisbee game, in which he REALLY did play. Everyone was amazed at how well he could throw that thing! Sadly, I don't have pictures of this because Connor was nice enough to let me play too.
We then enjoyed fireworks in our old town of Wickliffe. Corbin loved the fireworks and just sat their and watched whereas I was very surprised when Ashlyn literally started freaking out screaming that it was too loud and she wanted to leave immediately! She has seen them before, but it is a new year with new challenges! I was able to calm her down and hold her ears. But the very slightest move I made away from her ears, she would clench my hand in terror. Talking to her afterward she said she did like all the sparkles and colors. Maybe next year!!
The glow sticks were a hit while waiting for the fireworks to start...

I hope your 4th was as wonderful as ours!
