Neuse River

It gets so hot here during the summer that we find a variety of ways to stay cool.  

We've been enjoying the Neuse River right by our house...

 It never seems to get old.

A cheap inflatable kayak does the job...

Kiddy Pools

This is what happens when I am too lazy to sunscreen four kids, myself and lug all the gear to the pool... The best parts- I can get something done while they are having fun, and I don't have to sunscreen them since it is in the shade- bonus!!!

As you can see I was even too tired to put Kamryn in her swimsuit. I think the real reason was that I can't get enough of her chubby roles. The bum gets me every time.

Kamryn has a fascination with goggles. She loves to wear them, which makes us roll on the floor, but she loves to toss them in the water even more.

This is a normal scene at the pool...

My friend taught me the marvelous trick of creating your own seat side kiddy pool! I now lug my cooler to the pool.

Summer in Full Swing

We have been playing so hard we are all in need of some catch up sleep- anywhere we can get it...

We have been at the pool, going to free movies, and playing with friends non-stop.

Around that I have been playing on a tennis team, running to train for Ragnar, trying to make my thumb greener and planning for primary. Whew

End of summer

This summer was so long and tiring, yet I somehow can't believe it is over. The air here has given us it's indication that fall is on it's way (the humidity has let up, what a great relief.) I have found myself desperately holding on to each day. A month ago I prayed that the summer would quickly expire, only so that the stress would be over. This summer has brought so many wonderful blessings. We have enjoyed getting to know and love our new little Kamryn even more as well as our new home. I am just glad that we were able to choose a house, close and move in to it, all in less than a month!

The kids are LOVING school. I was a little worried that Dylan was going to YET another new school. But he said it was his "best first day ever!" What a relief! We are enjoying our ability to walk and ride bikes to school. I can't believe my first baby is a 1st grader!

This girl...

Started preschool today. I thought she was literally going to burst from excitement. She has waited so patiently. She has watched Dylan go to school for the last 6 weeks.

These cutties have become wonderful friends and cuddle buddies...
I mean, it would take a ball and a chain to restrain you from trying to cuddle with the chunky girl!

We have definitely enjoyed our share of the pool. We have been "pool hoppers" for two years now. We are stoked that we finally have a pool to take our generous friends too. And here, that is literally all you can do during the hot summer weeks! There are a few weeks the end of July and early August where the pool water actually gets too hot and it is no longer refreshing! One of many pool trains with your's truly as the engine...

And it looks like even though summer is ending THIS battle rages on...

Yes, these are Kamryn's 3 mo clothes...argggggggg!!!! I guess the 80's would have suite her well.

More fun at the Mall

FRIENDS. Our awesome friends the Drakes!

So not only do we have a great play area in the mall for those "cold" or rainy days here. But we also have a sprinkler park just outside the food court. Just another exciting adventure for our summer days.

Dylan thinks this is pretty funny... This kids is ripped!!! We are still trying to figure out where he gets it.

Ashlyn and Corbin figured out how to cover up the water spouts with their feet...
And you can only imagine that it backfired a few times in Corbin's face!!!

But he still loved it to pieces...

Dylan's new game of trying to not get hit by the shooting water (they stop and restart randomly, so it can be tricky)...
