Post Baby Let Downs

I was SO excited to finally be able to sleep/lay on my stomach again

Let down: Milk has taken over and we are too sore for that

I was SO sick and tired of maternity clothes and hopeful that I could wear my "bigger stuff"

Let Down: There is now way! Sadly the maternity clothes look worse on me now than before!
Spring is here and everyone is out exercising, I am getting the itch to go run.
Let down: They say you can't exercise till 6 weeks postpartum
For all of those who have "non-traumatic" birth experiences- when do you REALLY start exercising??? Also- my nurse said no driving a car for 2 weeks!!! What- I am having a hard time with this one!
But... I am enjoying getting to hug my husband from the front instead of from the side!!!

My friend ran the NYC marathon 4 weeks after giving birth. I think it's safe to say she pretty much never stopped exercising. The day her baby was born, she had run 6 miles. That being said, I still think you should be cautious. Maybe 1 month?

Michal,

you looked great in the blessing picture - especially for just having a baby! I'd follow the suggestion of waiting 6 weeks to exercise. Congratulations by the way! She is darling. I'm so excited for your family. 2 boys and 2 girls are so much fun.

i always start after 3 or 4 weeks, but i have very low impact births with little or no stitches and i exercise the whole pregnancy. just listen to your body. did you have a c-section this time?

Um...never...

Keep thinking though Michal...you're on your way. Everyday means your that much closer to a normal life...though the whole milk thing feels like it lasts too long. Yay for not being pregnant anymore though!

Whether its sooner or later, you're definitely closer to running again than you were a few weeks ago :-)

I always worked on a don't ask, won't tell policy with my doctors/midwives. I can't live without exercise - and as soon as I felt up to it I went for it.

For me, exercise always comes soon enough, so I just do everything "kids" for a few weeks. At least, that's my favorite. There aren't very many times I'm ASKED to slow down. I love when the schedule is all slurred and I can just be "mom" without anything extra outside of the house. Good luck! She is absolutely gorgeous and I LOVE her name!

My doctor told me that I could start working out right away. So I did. And I love the feeling of being able to lay on my stomache too. That was the best feeling ever!

I felt so good after Connor's birth I started jogging about 2 weeks later. And I totally regretted it later. My pelvis was not happy. I even had a much harder time when I was pregnant with the next baby. I say you can walk after 2 weeks, but stick it out a good 6 weeks for jogging so you won't make the same mistake as me!!
